Francis Eugene
Weeks
Jan 18, 1935 — Dec 26, 2010
Francis Weeks, friends and family knew him as Gene, was born January 18th, 1935 in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He lived in Savoy, Illinois at the time of his passing. Family and friends were extremely lucky to know him and love him. He was part of our lives on this earth for 75 years before he was ushered home to heaven on December 26th, 2010 at 4:29pm with family by his side at Carle Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. Gene surely made his Mother and Father very proud to have a great son. Charles, his Father, served this great nation in the U.S. Army. When Gene was born, his father was stationed in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and eventually relocated to Chanute AFB in Rantoul, Illinois. Central Illinois is where he grew up. Gene's Father passed away at a very early age and was raised mainly by his Mother Irene. Gene made friends very easily because of his caring personality. Of those friends the one he considered his very best and the one he had many memories with was Lloyd Place. Gene's life would change forever when he met Mary Esther Beasley and married her on November 12th, 1958. Mary and Gene gave birth to a daughter, Kimberly Renee, on February 21st, 1964. Kim was very special to Gene. Kim was their only child and he loved her very much. Most men dream of having a son, but Gene really wanted a daughter and God gave him a great one. He loved her with his whole heart and would do anything possible for her. He was involved in her life, from being her coach in softball to teaching her to drive. They shared a passion for fishing and loved spending time together watching fireworks on the 4th of July. Kim eventually grew up and had a son. Joshua Brandon was born April 17th 1982, they had a bond most grandfathers and grandsons only dream of. Gene was very proud of Josh and would always find time to play with him no matter how tired he may have been after work. Gene gave Josh the love of sports and played baseball with him very often. They had a Relationship that resembled a father and son. Josh was the son he never had and Gene was the father Josh never had. In his last few months Josh moved in with him in Savoy to provide the care he needed. It was safe to say when he passed he was happy and knew that he was loved. Kimberly remarried in 1997 to Jose Bermudez and gave Gene another grandson named Max Colin on March 20th 2000. The limited time they knew each other they had a great relationship. Gene loved kids, and kids loved him. Max will miss his grandfather very much and the memories he has of him will never be forgotten. Gene was very proud of both his grandsons and his daughter. He was also proud to call Jose his son when Kim married him. Jose provides Kim great loving care, everything that Gene ever wanted for his daughter. When he looks down from heaven you can see his smile in the clouds because he knows how much he meant to his family and his family is happy because he was such a big part of it. Gene's family was very important to him and he provided for them very well. Gene had a strong work ethic. This work ethic allowed him to work at Meadow Gold Dairy for 30 plus years. He eventually retired from Meadow Gold in 1996. He made several friends while working there. Gene is survived by his wife Mary Esther, Daughter Kimberly Renee Bermudez, Son-in-law Jose Bermudez, Brother Robert S. Weeks, Grandson Joshua Brandon Weeks and wife Melissa Weeks along with Grandson Max Colin Bermudez along with several nephews and nieces. Gene was preceded in death by Mother Irene Weeks, Father Charles Weeks, Brothers Charlie and Allen Weeks, and infant sister Sarah Weeks. Services for Francis Eugene Weeks will be Thursday January 6th at 1pm. The ceremony will be conducted at Renner-Wikoff Chapel located at 1900 S. Philo Road in Urbana, Illinois. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mayview, Illinois. A visitation service will be from 5pm- 7pm Wednesday January 5th at the funeral home. Francis Eugene Weeks was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family and they loved him. This world lost a great man. For those of you who were lucky enough to know him rest assured he is in a better place. Heaven is joyful to have him walk through his pearly gates. Knowing Gene, he is probably sitting on a bank, fishing with his brothers and drinking some fresh coffee. Words can't begin to describe how much he will be missed. Francis Eugene Weeks will never be forgotten. Condolences may be offered at renner-wikoffchapel.com.
