Forrest "Bud" John Carswell, Jr., 65, passed away at 9:25 a.m., Monday, February 21, 2011 at his home in Urbana. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. Pastor Leland Collins will officiate. A reception will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Renner-Wikoff Chapel prior to the memorial service on Saturday. Burial will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.

Mr. Carswell was born August 24, 1945, in Charlotte, North Carolina to parents Forrest and Ruth Carswell. He married Sharon McDade on April 11, 1964 in Urbana; she survives. Also surviving are sons; Vernon Carswell (Tammy), of Urbana, Tony Carswell (Jennifer), of Champaign, grandson; Brandon Carswell, of Urbana, granddaughters; Olivia Carswell and Audrey Carswell, of Champaign, and brother; Therman Carswell (Mary), of Tuscola. Forrest was preceded in death by his parents and one brother; Vernon Carswell.

Mr. Carswell attended Urbana High School. He later worked as a self-employed painter and was a member of Laborers Local #703. Bud coached his sons' Little League and Mickey Mantle League baseball teams when they were growing up. He was an avid fisherman and was lovingly referred to as "Pap" by his grandchildren.
