Obituary

Florence V. McKinley, 88, of Champaign, passed away at 12:20 A.M. on Saturday, March 01, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

A graveside Memorial Service will be conducted by Rev. Tom Corum at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Monticello Cemetery.

She was born on November 14, 1925 at Mercy Hospital, Urbana, a daughter of Edward and Alice Leonard. Florence married Earl D. (Porky) McKinley on January 10, 1943 in St. Charles, Missouri, he survives. Also surviving are their children, Kathryn Ann (Louis) Hillesland of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, Earleen (Charles) Peters, Thomas (Linda Taylor) McKinley and Timothy (Cam) McKinley, all of Urbana. Grandchildren; Sean Peters of California, Shelly (Roy) Dunaway of Urbana, Aaron (Barb) Peters of St. Joseph, Erica Sawyer of Thomasboro, Paige Robinson of Peoria, Arizona and Toby (Amy) Livingston of Kenosha, Wisconsin, eleven great grandchildren and ex-daughter-in-law, Nora McKinley of Thomasboro.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Betty Lou, three sisters, Agnes Burgstrom, Vera Mott, Midge Cotter and three brothers, Joseph, Cecil and Earl Leonard.

Florence retired from Kraft Foods in 1988 after fifteen years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Champaign. She was also a member of Post 5520 VFW auxiliary of Champaign and Lady of the Moose in Tuscola. She was Lady Elk of the year in 2007-2008 for Champaign-Urbana Lodge 2497. Florence enjoyed traveling, dinner out with her family and collecting Boyd's Bears. Her favorite sports teams were the St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers.

The McKinley family would like to thank Carle Foundation Hospital and the staff for the excellent care that Florence received. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Champaign or the Elks Children's Care Corporation.
