Felice Davidson Bateman, 90, of Urbana, died at 3:45 p.m., Monday, February 4, 2013, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana. Burial will immediately follow at Roselawn Cemetery, Champaign.

Mrs. Bateman was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on Sept 2, 1922, the daughter of Joshua and Minna Kohn Davidson. Survivors are her daughter Sarah (Sally) Bateman of Urbana, brother David S. Davidson of Bethesda, MD, a nephew and grandnieces. Her husband Paul T. Bateman predeceased her on December 26, 2012.

Felice graduated from Smith College and received a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Michigan. She married Paul T. Bateman in Detroit, Michigan on June 25, 1948. Before moving to Urbana in 1950, Felice taught at Douglas College. She retired from the faculty of the University of Illinois Mathematics Department in 1989.

Mrs. Bateman was a lover of classical music and a frequent season ticket holder of the Chicago Lyric Opera. During her husband's tenure as head of the Mathematics Department, she was a well-known hostess for faculty and their many national and international guests.
