EUGENE OWEN JACK JONES

URBANA - Rev. Eugene Owen "Jack" Jones passed away on Monday, June 25 at St. Mary's Hospital, Mayo Medical Center, in Rochester, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2007, at Faith Crusaders Church in Urbana, Illinois. His sons will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 29,5:30-8:00 PM at Renner-Wikoff Funeral Home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana.

Rev. Jones was born November 7, 1931, in Chariton, Iowa, the son of Arthur Kring Jones and Ruth Wilkinson Jones. He was a loving husband to Camillia Ann Marsh whom he married on August 5, 1956.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Richard M. Jones of St. Louis, Missouri and Marsh W. Jones of Urbana, Illinois and his brother, Richard M. Jones of Carol Stream, Illinois; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marcella Julia Gerdes and W. Janette Williams.

Rev. Jones was named the Pastor of Perkins Road Nazarene Church in 1961. The church's name was changed to Faith Church of the Nazarene soon after he arrived and he remained there as pastor until 1972. In 1972 Rev. Jones founded Faith Community Church which continues today as Faith Crusaders Church. Rev. Jones was also the director of Christ Theological Seminary and was the Bishop of Crusaders Churches, U.S.A. For a brief time in the 1960s, Rev. Jones served as the chair of the Champaign County War on Poverty.

Memorials may be made to Faith Crusaders Church or to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
