Eugene John Ard 79 of Champaign died at 10:18 a.m. Monday, September 7, 2015 at home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana, Rev. Tony Crouch will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour before services Thursday.

Mr. Ard was born on May 21, 1936 in Ivesdale, the son of John and Margaret McGuire Ard. He married Lois Schoonover on January 14, 1971 in Urbana, she survives.

Also surviving are one son; Tim (Teresa) Ard of Danville, one step-son; Richard (Terry) Gililand of Champaign, one-step daughter; Connie (Brenda) Gililand of Champaign, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Mr. Ard was a farmer, warehouseman and also worked for Lincoln Trail Library.

He was a member of the Moose, former member of the Eagles. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, yard work and his pets.
