Ernie was born on March 7, 1952 in Sabina, Ohio to Bernard (Mac) and Beulah (Titus) McConaha. They preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his brother, Ronnie McConaha, sisters, Verna Brumfield and Emma (Dean) Wilkins and his step son, Nicholas Jayne. He is survived by his three children, Tony (Amy) McConaha, Tisha (Mark) Ploense and Jesse (Haley) McConaha all of Homer. Ernie graduated from Champaign Central High School, class of 1970. He retired from Local Union 703, Urbana after 33 years of service. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan but also enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts (Peyton Manning). He enjoyed fishing, cooking on the grill, working in the yard, going to Bingo on Monday nights at the Eagles Lodge in Champaign and gardening. Ernie loved his car which he referred to as his "baby" but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. He attended all of his grand babies sporting events and school programs; he was their #1 fan. He is going to be missed by everyone who knew him and loved him.
