Ernest H. McClurg 65 of Urbana died at 2:08 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2011 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2011 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana.

Mr. McClurg was born on May 14, 1946 in Urbana, the son of Theodore and Betty sanders McClurg. He married Jane Gothard on July 19, 1975 in Urbana, she survives.

Also surviving is his mother of Urbana, one son; Duane McClurg stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky, one daughter; Shannon (Sickler) McClurg of Effingham, one sister Elizabeth M. Felts of Urbana and one grandchild.

Mr. McClurg retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years as a Sgt. 1st Class having served in Germany and Vietnam. He also worked at the U of I as a building service worker.

He was a member of American Legion Post 71 of Urbana, Full Circle and he was an Eagle Scout.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Prairieland Council of the Boy Scouts.
