Obituary

Elwood F. (Woody) Olver 87 of Urbana died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2010 at Clark-Lindsey Village, Urbana, the Rev. Dr. Terry Harter will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana. Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2010 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana.

Mr. Olver was born on April 10, 1922 in Connellsville, PA, the son of F. Emmett and Edith Vanwert Olver. He married Miriam Jones on May 6, 1943 in Clinton, SC, she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter; Dee Braden of Whitmore Lake, MI, two sons; Tom Olver of Gainesville, FL, Larry Olver of Winfield, one brother; Emmett Budd Olver of Chambersburg, PA and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death one son and two sisters.

Mr. Olver was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WW II.

He was an Associate Professor of agriculture engineering at Penn State University then became a Professor of agriculture engineering at the U of I.

Mr. Olver was a member of the Kiwanis. He loved his family, he played trombone earning the state title in PA and was the first freshman to make the blue band at Penn State.
