Elma Satterthwaite Hinkhouse, 94, of Urbana, IL passed away November 28, 2012 at home. She was born in Salem, OH to William D. and Mabel Cameron Satterthwaite on Feb 20, 1918. A graduate of Olney Friends School in Barnesville, OH in 1936 she went on to become an administrative assistant to the president of the Deming Company of Salem.

She married F. William Hinkhouse in Jan, 1962, and following the wedding, joined him on their farm near West Branch, IA until their retirement in 1987. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1998. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Urbana, IL to be closer to her brother, Cameron Satterthwaite, and his family. Cameron died May 28, 2011.

Surviving are sisters-in-law Helen Satterthwaite of Urbana, IL and Doris Hinkhouse of West Branch, IA, nieces Tracy Satterthwaite, of Urbana, IL, and Hilda (Bill) Bowers of West Branch, IA, and nephews Mark Satterthwaite of Urbana, IL, Tod (Beth) Satterthwaite of Champaign, IL, Keith Satterthwaite of Columbia, MO, Richard (Anji) Hinkhouse of West Branch, IA, Clifford (Monica) Hinkhouse of West Branch IA, Glenn (Pam) Hinkhouse of West Branch, IA and Stanley Hinkhouse of West Branch, IA.

Elma enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing, and traveling. She also enjoyed a good hike in the woods, identifying wildflowers and birds with her nieces and nephews. She was a life-long member of the Society of Friends (Quakers), attending meeting in Salem, OH, West Branch, IA and Urbana, IL.

A memorial service will be held at the Friends Meeting House, 1904 E. Main St., Urbana, IL at 1:30 p.m. on December 1, 2012.
