Elizabeth L. (Betty) Blundy, 85 of Savoy passed into the hands of our Lord at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

There will be no visitation. There are plans for cremation and a private service for family members only. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Betty was born in Alameda, California on April 26, 1923 the daughter of Frank Henry Lyon of Liverpool, England and Helen Antz of Neustadt, Germany. She married Eugene H. Blundy, of Forrest, Illinois on February 1, 1946 in Alameda, California. After World War II ended they moved to Manhattan, Illinois and then to Champaign.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Blundy, one brother William Lyon, one sister Euleda Sulger and one grandson Michael O'Neal.

Betty leaves behind three daughters; Jeanne Blundy of Chicago, Barbara A. (Dan) O'Neal of Bloomington, Illinois and Janet (Tom) Diedrich of Mahomet, Illinois as well as four grandchildren; Jim O'Neal, Laura Wells, Michelle Matthews, Megan Bacevich and six great grandchildren.

Betty worked as an evening supervisor of Records at Carle Clinic and as an Administrative Secretary to the Dean of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. She will be missed by her family members and the staff and residence of Windsor of Savoy.
