- Edward "Max" Dilley, 79, of Urbana, IL, passed away at 8:41 A.M., Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at his residence.
A Celebration of Life reception for Max will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Attie's Bar and Grill at Stone Creek Golf Club, 2600 E. Stone Creek Blvd., Urbana, IL. Please stop by and share in our celebration for Max. Private burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana. Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Max was born June 19, 1936 in Champaign, IL, a son of Dale and Ruth (Lovingfoss) Dilley. He married M. Joyce Blaker on August 7, 1955 at the First United Methodist Church in Urbana. She survives. Also surviving is a son, Jeff Dilley and wife, Teresa of Urbana, IL and a daughter, Jill Thompson and husband, Jim of Dallas, Texas. Also survivors include three grandchildren, Jennifer Bruno of McKinney, TX, Jeff Thompson of Dallas, TX and Colton Dilley of Urbana.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Janice McGrath.
Max served in the Army National Guard and was a firefighter for the city of Urbana for 20 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Urbana since 1947 and the Illini Collector Car Club. Max loved cars and restored and showed many different ones starting with a 1930 Model A, going on to '57 Thunderbirds and finally, 1965-67 Mustangs. He also restored and rode Cushman Motor cycles.
