Edna R. King 96 of Newman formerly of Urbana was called home to her Lord and Savior at 8:45 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Newman Healthcare and Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana, Pastor Rick Smith will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Medsker Cemetery, Melrose.

Edna was born June 26, 1920 in Martinsville Township, the daughter of Henry and Nancy McDaniel. She married Grover Walter King in August 1934. They had 10 children.

She is survived by two sons; Grover (Eileen) King of Melrose, James (Dawn) King of Champaign, four daughters; Lucy Schoonover of Savoy, Nancy (Ed) Wiseheart of Homer, Sandy (Tony) Gentry of Villa Grove, Judy (Mike) Rothermel of Camargo and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Edna and Walter lived in many places in their 50+ years together, but spent the majority of their lives in Melrose and Champaign. Edna was a member of the Church of God in Melrose and then later a member of Judson Chapel Baptist Church in Champaign.

She enjoyed fishing, going for rides, playing 500 rummy and other games and visits from her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Linda, and sons; William, Marion and John.
