Dwain L. McGinnis, 73 of Champaign died at 11:04 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014 at Presence Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

There will be no public services. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McGinnis was born on December 2, 1940 in Cisco, the son of William and Ruby Boyer McGinnis. He married Lucy Utsler on November 17, 1972 in Lodge, she survives.

Also surviving are his Mother; Ruby Danison of Cisco, one daughter; Debbie Grenko of Decatur, one son; Marshal (Connie) Bartley of Champaign, one sister; Patricia Zaloudek of Champaign and his sister-in-law, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nephews, great nieces and a great nephew. He was loved by his family, and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, one son, one sister and one brother.

Mr. McGinnis was a 1958 graduate of Monticello High School. After graduating, he went into the Army where he served in Vietnam.

He worked in building and home maintenance. He retired from Schnucks in Champaign in maintenance.

Mr. McGinnis was a life member of VFW Post 630, Urbana.

His passion was gardening. He raised different varieties of tomatoes that he shared with friends and family. His best friend forever was his dog Cameo.
