Dr. Robert E. Sostheim 86 of Champaign died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Grace United Methodist Church, Urbana; Rev. Mike Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Champaign. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Sostheim was born on December 26, 1929 in Berlin, Germany, the son of Ernest and Helen Wasservogel Sostheim; he married June Richards on May 3, 1958 in Skaneateles, New York., she died on October 10, 2009 after 51 years of marriage. He then married Virginia Hausman.

Survivors include two sons; Rick Sostheim of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Daniel Sostheim of Miami Beach, Florida, one daughter; Deborah Vanderhout of Urbana and seven grandchildren.

Dr. Sostheim retired from Carle Foundation Hospital.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Urbana.
