Mr. Douglas Helregel of Nashville, IL formerly of Champaign, IL. departed this life from injuries sustained in automobile accident on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at 12:10 A.M. He was 43 years old.

Mr. Helregel was born on April 17, 1965 at Champaign, IL the son of James and Ruth (Gibler) Helregel.

Doug graduated from Unity High School in 1983 and he then went on to the University of Illinois, Champaign, IL where he received his Masters in Business Administration. Doug worked as a salesman for Pepsi MidAmerica in Marion, IL. He loved sports, hiking, rock climbing, skydiving and biking around Chicago where he lived for 6 years. Doug loved to travel and wanted to spend his retirement fishing from a beach in Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Helregel

Survivors are his mother and step father, Ruth and Bill Ruud of Tuscola, IL, 2 sisters, Sue Resler and her husband Travis of Loogootee, IN and Terri Helregel and her fiancAC.e Steve Grady of Bloomington, IL, 2 nephews, Trevor and Tyler Resler, his special friend, Karen Bennett of Beaucoup, IL, other relations and numerous friends.

Cremation was performed and a celebration of life service will be held at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel in Urbana, IL on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 6 PM.

Friends may call at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel on Thursday from 4 PM until the service hour.

Should friends desire memorial contributions can be made to the Nashville Fire Department, Washington County Ambulance Service or the Nashville Police Department and will be accepted at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, IL who are in charge of arrangements.
