Dorothy W. Tucker passed away at home on Wednesday, February 13, 2008. She was born on July 13, 1927, the daughter of Walter D. and Nellie E. Greenwood Kunz in rural Fayette County, Illinois. Funeral services will be on Monday, February 18, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church of Champaign, 210 W. Church Street, Champaign, IL. The Rev. Terry Harter will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 11:30 A.M. until 1:30 P.M., with the service beginning at 1:30 P.M. Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana is coordinating the arrangements for the family. Dorothy attended a small rural elementary school, Vandalia Community High School, and graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1950 with a degree in Home Economics Education. She taught Home Economics for two years at Assumption, Illinois, and one year at Hurst Bush, Illinois. She also taught extension courses for the University of Illinois. She chose to be a homemaker so she could be at home for her children. She was active in her church, Home Extension, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, UHS Band Boosters, and the Carle Auxiliary. She married James D. Tucker on December 23, 1951 in Vandalia, IL. She is survived by her husband, Jim, and her three children - two daughters - Marcia E. Hauser of Greenwood, IN and Mary K. Conklen of New Holland, IL, and one son - Mark C. Tucker of Urbana, IL. She is also survived by her brother, Denver W. Kunz of Carlinville, IL, four grand children, and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Carle Cancer Center, 602 W. University Ave., Urbana or the First United Methodist Church of Champaign.
