Dorothy E. Owens, 79 of Urbana died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2009 at her son's home in Tolono.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana. The Rev. Richard Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Owens was born on November 7, 1929 in Bible Grove, the daughter of Lowell and Dora Jane Carter Specht.

Surviving are four sons; John W. (Monika) Barrow of Germany, Harry Barrow of Champaign, Rocky (Annette) Owens of Tolono and Richey Owens of Urbana, three daughters; Dorothy "Susie" (Alvin) Oswalt, Marsha (Mike) Molenhour and Misty (Mike) Owens all of Urbana, three brothers; Roscoe (Julie) Specht of Rantoul, Jim (Jeri) Specht and Ralph (Anita) Specht both of Mahomet, four sisters; Lucille (Kenneth) Elkins of Fisher, Loetta Martin of North Carolina, Wanda (Herbert) Grindley of Champaign and Linda (Ronnie) McCorkle of Oakwood, sixteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Owens loved to play bingo, fishing, reading, babysitting and animals.
