Doris M. O'Connor, 85, of Urbana died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, Rev. Ann Burger officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Interment will be at East Lawn Cemetery in Urbana, Ill.

Mrs. O'Connor was born January 8, 1924 in Effingham. She was the daughter of Orville and Beulah (Kistler) Hewkin, Sr. She married Bill O'Connor on May 3, 1942 in Biloxi, Miss, he survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Sharon K. Wallace (David) of Urbana, granddaughters, Sandra Shove (Kent) of Urbana, Jenifer Freeman (Jim) of Bloomington, four great grandchildren and a brother, George Hewkin of Ogden. She is preceded in death by a brother, Orville J. Hewkin, Jr. and one grandson.

Mrs. O'Connor graduated from Urbana High School and was a clerk and bookkeeper at the High School. She also was co-owner and manager of an apartment complex with her husband in Urbana. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Urbana and the San Carlos Bay Power Squadron Aux. in Ft. Meyers Beach, Fla. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards.
