URBANA, IL- Doris Love, 86, died at 12:30 P.M., Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the Champaign County Nursing Home in Urbana. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 13, 2014, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 2200 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL. Doris was born on February 5, 1928 in Mount Vernon, NY, to Hedwig and William Luther. She married Kenneth Harold Love on August 24, 1947. Doris lived in Urbana for many years from 1960 on. She was active in the U of I International Student Hospitalities Committee, pairing students with Host Families who learned about each others' cultures in joint activities. Doris was an active member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church. Doris worked in retail and accounting jobs at various companies and retired from the U of I Alumni Association. She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Love-Sudduth (Robert Sudduth), a son, Keith Love (Maria Jesus Villar Vallano), daughter, Tamara Cunningham (CR Cunningham), grandchildren, Stacy Merrbach, Megan Keller (Michael Keller), Kenneth Love Villar, Monica Love Villar, two great grandchildren, Avery Merrbach and Harlee Rae Keller, and a niece, Nancy Luther Jara. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Christine, and a brother, Allen Luther. The family would like to thank her caregivers at Champaign County Nursing Home and Harbor Light Hospice for their wonderful care. There will be a celebration of life at a future date at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2200 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. Donations may be made to Harbor Light Hospice or the charity of your choice.
