Doris Audrey White Lewis, 97, of Urbana passed away at 10:00 p.m.Saturday (August 22, 2026) at Brookdale Memory Care, Urbana.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at East Lawn Cemetery, Urbana. Pastor Luke Herche will officiate.

Doris was born April 5, 1929, at her grandmother’s house in Amherst, NY, the daughter of Alburn C. White and Nina (Lee) White. She married John “Jack” William Lewis in January 1949.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane Britton (Bob) of Champaign; sons, John W. Lewis Jr. (Heidi) of Moline, IL and Jim Lewis of Fithian; eight grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and her daughter Diana Andrews, both of Urbana.

Doris is a graduate of Urbana High School and Illinois Commercial College. She and her husband started Happi Time Day Care Center in the early 1960s and managed the business for many years. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Champaign. She and her husband, Jack, enjoyed their families and spending time in Florida.
