Donna Mae Piper, 82, of Champaign passed away at 11:28 P.M. on Friday, March 25, 2016 at her home.

Donna was born on February 21, 1934 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, to parents Claude and Margaret (Nelson) Hammel. They preceded her in death. On July 12, 1958 she married Merrill Piper in Malden, IL; he passed away on October 12, 2008. Also preceding her in death were her brother Dale Hammel and sister-in-law's Sue Eden and Peggy Hammel.

She is survived by her daughter, Colleen Huber (Thomas Huber M.D.) of Ann Arbor, MI, grandson Ryan Huber M.D. (fiancAC.e, Amanda Rigas M.D.) of Boston MA, granddaughter Piper Huber D.D.S of Portland OR, brother Robert Hammel of Hamilton, IL and her sisters Dorlene Nicklas of Mission Viego, CA, Linda Keene of Lena, IL and Ellen Temperly (Glen) of Cuba City, WI.

Donna was a graduate of Carthage High School and worked as a secretary for over 20 years at Princeton Elementary School in Princeton, IL. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her bridge groups.

Cremation rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carle Hospice Foundation.
