Donald L. Rinehart 70 of Champaign died at 8:54 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Presence Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana, Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana. Masonic rites will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home by Western Star Lodge #240 A.F. & A.M. Military rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 5520.
Mr. Rinehart was born on February 7, 1943 in New Castle, Indiana, the son of N. Donald and Theda C. Monroe Rinehart. He married Victoria A. Tarter on April 7, 1962 in Urbana, she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter; Mary L. Trimble of Mahomet, one son; Curtis L. Rinehart of Carmel, Indiana, three brothers; W. Darrell Rinehart of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jerry L. Rinehart of Hagerstown, Indiana, Lavern M. Rinehart of Stroughn, Indiana, one sister; Patricia Fisher of Losantville, Indiana and one grandson; Morgan Trimble.
He was preceded in death by one son; Donald D. Rinehart and one sister; Joenita Walker.
Mr. Rinehart graduated from Hagerstown High School. University of Illinois Police Basic Training, Parkland College Law Enforcement Police Science.
He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran from 1960 - 1964, serving at Lackland AFB, Chanuate AFB, McDill AFB and Osan Korea, AFB.
Mr. Rinehart was a police officer with the City of Champaign from 1970 - 2001. He also worked for Brinks Armored Car Co. from 2001 to 2012.
He was a life member of VFW #5520, Champaign, American Legion Post 24, Champaign, Police Benevolent & Protective Association #7, Western Star Lodge #240 A.F. & A.M., Champaign and a Charter member of Cushman Club of America #46.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children.
