Donald E. "Joe" LaValle, 85 of Urbana, died at 9:20 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 9 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Urbana with Father Joseph Hogan officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.

Mr. Lavalle was born June 28, 1924 in Ladysmith, Wisc. the son of Bernard Michael and Laura Karrer LaValle. He married Delores Ann Collins on June 18, 1948 in Urbana and she preceded him in death on November 19, 1987. Survivors include his daughters; Margie (Paul) Harmon, Jeannie (Tim) Brenner and son; Bernard (Janet) LaValle all of Urbana, sisters; Margie Carson of Seattle, Wash. and Kay Nicholson of Bondville, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one son, Norman LaValle, three brothers and one sister.

Mr. LaValle attended Perkins School and University High School and was owner/operator of LaValle's Hauling, Urbana for 46 years. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Urbana, served in the US Navy during WWII, was an avid outdoorsman which included hunting, fishing and golf and enjoyed sports. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
