Donald Edward Keeler 90, of Urbana, passed away at 9:44 a.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

A memorial reception will be held from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana.

Don was born on September 1, 1926, to Lynwood and Vivian Keeler. He married Mary (Druce) Buck in Urbana, she survives.

Surviving are two sons, Craig (Robin) Keeler of Tolono, Mitch (Rhonda) Keeler of Philo, three grandchildren, Bobbie Jo (Shashi) Madugula of New Jersey, Ashley (David) Spradling of Murray, Kentucky, Ryan Keeler of Philo and one great grandson, Oliver Madugula of New Jersey.

He is preceded in death by one son; Jeffrey Keeler.

Don enlisted in the Navy at the age of 19, and proudly served on the U.S.S. Iowa, Battleship. He did tours during WW II and Korea. After his years in the service he came back to Urbana to begin work at P & E Railroad for a few years, then went on to Hunters Lumber, only to start his own cabinet shop, Keeler Cabinets of Urbana. He was also a member of Carpenters Local 44 for 62 years.

Don enjoyed working in his garden, carving and telling old Navy stories.
