Donald V. Hampton, 98, of Decatur passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Imboden Creek Living Center, Decatur with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren by his side.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek. Mike Stewart will officiate. There will be no public visitation. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana is in charge of arrangements.

Donald was born on February 13, 1914 in Bethany, IL. He was the son of Dallas and Mary Lucille (Ward) Hampton. He married Ruth Lillian Coventry on March 8, 1938 in Paducah, Kentucky. Ruth preceded Donald in death on January 9, 2009.

Donald is survived by four children: Nancy Milnor, Carolyn Baine, Bill Hampton and Gary Hampton; three sisters: Rosemary Stephens, Dorothy Litchenwalter and Doris Doehring; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Three brothers, one sister and one grandson preceded Donald in death.

Donald was a farmer, a carpenter who helped build many homes in Central Illinois and later retired from Illinois Power Company. He loved to fish in his spare time.
