Don Sunderland 73 of Urbana died at 1:40 a.m. Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana, the Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion #71, Urbana. Mr. Sunderland was born on July 11, 1936 in Morristown, TN, the son of Paul D. and Alma R. Carter Sunderland. He married Alice McCoy on September 8, 2004 in Urbana, she survives.

Also surviving are one step-son; Tony McCoy of Nashville, TN, one brother; Walter Dean Sunderland of Chicago and one nephew; Travis Sunderland of Chicago. Don never had any children of his own, but his boxers were his children.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

Mr. Sunderland retired as a telephone technician then became a self employed contractor.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion #71, Urbana. He enjoyed pool and fishing.
