Dolores May Applegate, age 85, of Stoughton, Wis. formerly of Urbana, died 2:59 a.m. Mon, Jan 1 at Skaalen Retirement Services in Stoughton, Wis.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Sat. Jan. 13 at East Lawn Cemetery, Urbana. Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Military Rites will be by Champaign VFW Post 5520. Visitation will be Fri. from 4 to 7 p.m. at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana.
Mrs. Applegate was born Nov. 6, 1921 in Urbana, the daughter of Ralph and Alice Nelson Harrington. She married Wayne Applegate Nov. 23, 1939 at Covington, IN.
She is survived by three daughters, Crystal (Hal) Shaw of Stoughton, Wis., Vickie (Tom) Ballance of Golden, Colo., Connie (Rex) Renfrew of Louisville, Colo.; Son, John (Amy Lancaster) Applegate of Montgomery, Ala., 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne on Oct. 12, 1993 and her sister, Artell Henderson.
Mrs. Applegate was a graduate of Urbana High School and served in the Marine Corp as Corporal during WWII. She was a purchasing clerk for University Orthopedics. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and worked very hard on family scrapbooks.
