Dennis Simmons, 67, of Farmer City passed away at 8:32 P.M. on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, Urbana. A visitation will be held from 5:00- 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.

Dennis was born in Urbana on September 7, 1948 to parents Marshall E. Simmons Sr. and Frances Pauline Moody Simmons. They preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his wife Diana Slade Simmons, two brothers, Marshall E. Simmons Jr. and Douglas Scott Simmons and a niece, Trina Sue.

He is survived by brothers Ron (Andrea) Simmons of Dewey, Kenny (Ella) Simmons of Champaign, his sister Marsha (Jerry Johnson) Ward of Champaign and many nieces and nephews.

Dennis was a graduate of Central High School, Champaign. After high school he joined the United States Air Force.

He worked as a plumber for over thirty-five years, owning his own business and was a member of the Plumber's Local #149 as well as the Corvette Club of America and the National Rifle Association (NRA). Dennis was an avid NASCAR fan; enjoyed rooting on the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. He was also a collector of American Eagle merchandise and memorabilia.
