David L. Wheatley, 72 of Champaign died at 3:42 a.m. Monday August 7, 2017 at home. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory, 1900 Philo Rd., Urbana. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Rev. Rich Gregory will officiate. Military Rites will be provided by Urbana American Legion Post #71.

David was born December 9, 1944 in Champaign, the son of Charles Joseph and Norma Jean (Orr) Wheatley, Sr. He married Margaret Ann Duvall October 3, 1966 and she survives. He is also survived by daughters, Deborah Louise Wheatley Godden of Indian Harbour Beach, Fl and Denise Leann Wheatley Huff of Mahomet, Brothers, Richard Wheatley of Tuscola, Leonard Wheatley of Niantic and Charles Wheatley, Jr. of Champaign, a sister, Pam Garske of Mattoon, grandchildren, Daniel Wheatley, Andrew Godden, Cassandra Wheatley, Kyle Godden, Robyn Godden, Martina Huff, Matthew Godden, Nicole Godden, Thomas Huff and great grandchildren, Lucas Wheatley, Sophia Allen, Robert Wheatley, and Kayden Godden. He his preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild.

David was a graduate of Urbana High School and served in the U. S. Army during the Viet Nam War. He was a self-employed carpenter for 30 years in the Champaign-Urbana area.
