Obituary

David Joe Pierson, 60, of Urbana, passed away at 12:56 P.M. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, January 19, 2015 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. A visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Prairie View Cemetery, Savoy.

David was born on August 14, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas to Edith Joann "Sam" Pierson, she preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his Grandma, Maggie Wharton, his aunt, Susie Dysart and his nephew, Ben Huegener.

David is survived by his wife, Sandra (Collins) Pierson, his children, Brianna Pierson, Seth Pierson, Mathew Pierson and Melissa Pierson (Anderson). He is also survived by his brothers Jay Bruesch, Christian Huegener, Joe Huegener, his sister Denise Troesch and two grandchildren.

He was a graduate of Urbana Sr. High School. He worked as a warehouse worker/forklift operator at Supervalu (Jm Jones) for over 30 years. He also worked for Lowes.

David loved music and had a huge music collection. He was the original bass player for the River Creek Canyon Band. Besides bass, David played the trumpet, bugle and the guitar. He was proud of the jam session that he had at Prairielands with BB King and Lucille. Besides loving music David loved the Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis Cardinals.

He was an avid reader and a history buff, and was called back twice to audition for the game show Jeopardy.

David enjoyed the outdoors, whether it be fishing, camping, cooking over an open fire or using a dutch oven. He was an active member in boy scouts; was a Cub Master of troop 114 and a Pack Leader of troop 10 of Urbana. He founded the Parkland Cub Scout Fun Day. He loved boy scouting and was a member of the Order of the Arrow Brotherhood . David earned his wood badge and was part of the owl patrol and also earned the district award of merit. David was a commissioner for the District Round Table.

He had a phenomenal strength and adored his family. He is going to be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
