David Cornelius Foster, 83, of Urbana died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at his home. Funeral services will Sunday, March 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Kathy Murphy will officiate. Masonic Rites will be accorded at the beginning of the funeral service. Interment will be at Rice Cemetery, Sadorus.

Mr. Foster was born December 5, 1926 at Kingswood, KY, the son of William and Lula (Harris) Foster. He married Juanita Mae Norman on September 20, 1947 in Oregon, IL. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2009. He is survived by his daughters, Mary L. Foster of San Ramon, CA, Lois Welch (Robert) of Urbana, Judy Hawn (Damon) of Bement; grandchildren; Ryan, Michael and Jennifer Hawn and five great grandchildren.

Mr. Foster was a sub foreman at the University of Illinois as a refrigeration mechanic. He was a member of the Plumber and Steamfitters Union. He is a member of the Parkville United Methodist Church; Past Master of Tolono Masonic Lodge No. 391; Bement Masonic Lodge No. 365; The York Rite Bodies including, Champaign Chapter 50 Royal Arch Masons, Urbana Council No. 19 Cryptic Masons and Urbana Commandry No. 16 Knights Templar; Red Cross of Constantine Saxa Rubra Conclave of Champaign; East Central York Rite College No. 81; and was a 32rd Degree Mason of Scottish Rite Valley of Danville. He also served in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkville United Methodist Church or Provena Covenant Hospice. The family offers a special thanks to the staff at Canterbury Ridge in Urbana and to Champaign County Nursing Home.
