David G. Dye 66 of Champaign passed away at 8:19 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana; Rev. Norman McCormick will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana with military rites by the Urbana American Legion. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. David was born on September 21, 1949, the son of Shirley A. and Shirley J. Dye. He married Mona L. Covert on November 20, 1993 in Urbana. David was a member of First Baptist Church of Urbana. David attended Urbana High School, and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on May 6, 1968. He served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970 and was awarded the Purple Heart medal. He enjoyed wood working and landscaping his yard. David is survived by his wife, Mona, his mother; Shirley J. Dye of Urbana, his sister, Joni E. (Dye) Cornell of Florida, his daughters, Shawndelle M. (Dye) Bridgmen of Champaign, Debra Sherman of Champaign, Heather (Sherman) Sanders of Champaign, his sons, Ryan P. Dye of Missouri, Chuck Peterson of Champaign and his grandchildren; Mike Sanders, Arik Cornell and Jessica Sherman-Corbett. He was preceded in death by his father, Shirley A. Dye.
