David C. "Red" Carrothers, 68 of Urbana died Tuesday, December 9 at home. David wished to have no visitation or funeral, but to be cremated. David was born October 5, 1940 in Champaign. He was the son of B. I. Jack and Mary Carrothers. David was married to Peggy Shaffer, May 31, 1986 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Surviving are his wife Peggy Carrothers of Urbana, sons Randy Carrothers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Darrin Carrothers, Phoenix, Arizona, daughter Laura Walters, Mesa, Arizona. He also leaves two stepsons, Donald (Cheryl) Aikman, Urbana, Eddie (Susan) Aikman, Jr., Homer, Seventeen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, sisters, Carolyn Ruschmann, Urbana, Marie Chapman, Lawton, Oklahoma, Elaine Owens, Sitka, Alaska, brother, Jerry Carrothers, Jefferson, Oregon. David was preceded in death by his mother, father and a brother, Wayne Carrothers.

David graduated from Urbana High School in 1958. He was a laborer with Labor Local 703. His nickname was "Red". He also worked for C. S. Johnson, and for over ten years, was an owner/operator of a trucking service, leasing through Steve Gilbert in Mansfield.

David was a loving father, step father, and grandfather. David loved trap shooting, hunting and bowling.
