Darrell Alvin Miller 81 of Urbana died at 9:25 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana, Rev. Donald Ehlers will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

He was born on September 27, 1932 in Lincoln, the son of Alvin F. and Ruth L. Wiemer Miller. He married Norma Bartman on June 14, 1953 in Emden; she died November 21, 2003.

Survivors include one son; Blake (Dana) Miller of Brentwood, Tennessee, three daughters; Valerie Fox of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Vicki (Don) Rubenstein of Greenville, South Carolina and Tara Kirby of St. Charles, Illinois, one brother; Donald (Rose) G. Miller of Lincoln, thirteen grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. and M.S and Purdue University with a PhD.

Mr. Miller was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was a Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois in Plant Breeding ad Genetics and Forage Consultant, where he received numerous teaching and advising awards.

Mr. Miller was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Urbana where he served in numerous positions in the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Norma A. Miller Scholarship Fund or to the Darrell A. Miller Scholarship Fund at the University of Illinois.
