Darrell W. McDade, 86, of Urbana passed away at 8:16 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at Carle Foundation Hospital where he succumbed to a longstanding illness.He was born in Champaign, IL on January 25, 1940, the son of Reuben & Leatha (Elam) McDade. He enjoyed 67 years of marriage to Mary E. Franklin.Darrell is survived by his wife, Mary, and children- Wayne McDade of Tilton, IL, Jeanice McDade of Springfield, IL, Sheila Moore of Mt. Pleasant, IA and Mark McDade of Urbana, IL; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and his brother- Gale McDade of Memphis, TN.He is preceded in death by his infant brother Richard Eugene McDade, his parents, and his son-in-law Benjamin Moore.Darrell had many talents and skills and worked in several areas including owning a business, McDade Maintenance, for several years, and his favorite profession was working as a nurse at Prairie Center Health Systems. He enjoyed participating in helping patients recover from substance abuse. He was kind and compassionate.He enjoyed reading, cars, motorcycles, Pathfinders Hiking Club, and family. He was a fantastic swimmer and an Eagle Scout. In his youth he raised award-winning, purebred Hampshire show swine and continued his intense love for animals throughout his life. He was a devout member of Grace Bible Church, Urbana ILFuneral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Grace Bible Church, 3902 Willow RD, Urbana, IL 61802.
