Dale C. Thuney 75 of Urbana died at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana; the Rev. Dr. John Sims will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Thuney was born on October 6, 1934 in Urbana, the son of Elton and Grace Marie Anderson Thuney. He married Catherine Slack on October 17, 1959 in Urbana, she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters; Janet (Mark) Thuney Liberman of Roswell, Georgia and Susan Thuney of Champaign, one son; Steve Thuney of Urbana, one brother; Wesley Keith Thuney of Urbana and one granddaughter; Katie Thuney.

He was preceded in death by one sister; Wanda Hicks.

Mr. Thuney was the assistant superintendent of the Champaign County Highway Department retiring in 1993 after 35 years.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Urbana, the United Commercial Travelers for 53 years, Carle Auxiliary Escort service, the Williamsburg Foundation; he also served on the Freedom Celebration Board and carried the flag for the Spirit of 76.

Mr. Thuney enjoyed golfing, bowling and history.
