Dale L. Reed, Jr., 65, Champaign, passed away at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 25, 2012) in the Carle Foundation Hospital emergency room.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana, Rev. Mike Smith Officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Dale was born January 5, 1947, at Danville to Dale L. Reed, Sr., and Alta M. (Rice) Reed. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1965 and later served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He retired as a deputy sheriff from the Champaign County Sheriff's Department in 2004. Prior to that position, had worked as an officer in the Champaign Police Department.

In 1991, Dale married Linda Weeks and she preceded him in death in 2004. His father also predeceased him. He is survived by his mother of St. Joseph, two children, Ryan M. Reed, Urbana, and Tracey E. Keller, Villa Grove, a brother, Dennis R. Reed (Dana Finney), Champaign, a sister, Karen M. Reed, St. Joseph, three grandchildren, Lindsay, Krysten, and Zachary, two nieces, one nephew, an uncle, and several aunts and cousins.
