Obituary

URBANA - Craig Luebs, 68, of Urbana died Monday (June 12, 2017) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. The family will have a private memorial.

Mr. Luebs was born on December 1, 1948, and was raised in Lockport, IL by his parents, Chuck and Marjorie Luebs. He earned a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois in 1971. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Robin.

Also surviving are his three daughters, Penny (Kyle) Ransom of Appleton, WI, Heidi (Matt) Rees of Naperville and Tara (Esteban) Izquierdo of Vancouver, BC, Canada; six grandchildren, Christopher Ransom of Chicago, Alex Ransom of Omaha, NE, Rachel Ransom of Savoy, Olivia and Sam Rees of Naperville and Isa Izquierdo of Vancouver; a brother Tony (Amy) of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was an accomplished information technology professional. He concluded his more than forty-year career at the Carle Foundation in 2014.

He enjoyed being part of the campus community, regularly attending Saturday Science lectures, concerts at Krannert Center and Fighting Illini sporting events. He enjoyed traveling both nationally and internationally and was particularly fond of New York City, Carmel, CA and any national park.
