Clyde H. Martin, 87 of Urbana, passed away at 7:26 p.m. Sunday July 16, 2017 at Amber Glen in Urbana. A reception will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday July 21, 2017 with memorial service following at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory in Urbana.

Mr. Martin was born on February 14, 1930 in Urbana, the only child of Thene E. and Bernice E. (Davidson) Martin. He was a graduate of Urbana High School class of 1948. After serving in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman from 1948 to 1953, he returned to Urbana and married Jeannine E. Roney on August 15, 1953. She preceded him in death on February 6, 2017. She was the love of his life.

Clyde was a third generation firefighter for the City of Urbana retiring as Captain on February 2, 1991 after 35 years of service. Clyde was an avid hunter and fisherman during his life. He loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), VFW Post 630, St. Joseph Sportsman Club, and National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association (NMLRA).

Clyde leaves behind one son Shawn A. (Saundra R.) Martin of Sidney, one daughter Susan A. (John A.) Johnson of Urbana; three grandchildren, Patrick T. (Meredith) Martin, Lindsay C. (Matt) Lebo and Brittany N. (Scott) Hedden; five great-grandchildren, Giuliana Martin, Freyja Martin, Maynard Martin, Lucas Lebo and Dawson Lebo.
