Clive Allen Follmer passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

He was born on October 1, 1931 in Forrest, IL to Eva Jane and William G Follmer. He attended the University of IL from 1949-1953 and graduated with a degree in Commerce. He played baseball and basketball for the Fighting Illini taking his basketball team to two Final Four Tournaments in 1951-1952. Clive was named Big Ten Athlete of the year in 1953. Upon graduation, he married Donna Lee Henson on October 11, 1953. He was a pitcher for the White Sox Minor League for two years. In 1955 he served as an officer in the United States Army and was stationed in Fort Sill, OK until 1957. After his military service, he returned to the University of Illinois to attend law school. He graduated in 1958 and practiced law in Champaign County until his retirement in 2014.

Clive is preceded in death by his wife Donna, and his brother, Dan of Newbury Park, CA. He is survived by his brothers Mack Follmer of Eugene, OR, Leon Follmer of Savoy, IL and his sister Juanita Mykkanen of Fallbrook, CA. His four children also survive including Randy (Linda) Follmer, Darcy Gentner, and Kent Follmer of Urbana, IL, and Jacqueline Follmer of Decatur, GA. Clive is survived by seven grandchildren and one great grandson.

Clive was also a real estate developer and he played a vital role in the development of southeast Urbana. He was a history buff and his insatiable curiosity led him on numerous travels around the world. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed playing golf, the piano and the accordion. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed playing practical jokes on friends and family. He was loved by many and will be sorely missed.
