Clifford Gerald Darnall, 80, of Champaign died at 10:25 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Country Health Nursing Home in Gifford, Illinois, where he has been a resident for the past 7 A½ months.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2012 at Renner-Wikoff chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m., Tuesday April 10, 2012 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana, Illinois. Pastor Paul Unger will officiate.

Clifford was born August 17, 1931 at Burnham City Hospital, Champaign, Illinois, a son of Frank Lee and Daisy Irene Harris Darnall. Clifford never married.

Survivors include four brothers: Frank Lee Darnall, of Schaumburg, Harold Darnall, of Rantoul, Jack Emerson Darnall of Windsor , Colorado, and Robert Gene Darnall, of Monticello, two sisters: Hilma Irene Ridgely, of Moroa, Jo Ann Cloud, of Houston, Missouri, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Darnall was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers, three nephews, three great nieces, and one great nephew.

Clifford attended Lottie Switzer, Champaign Jr. High, and Champaign Central High Schools. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years receiving an honorable discharge in 1955. Clifford then worked for a cousin as an electrician at Electrical and Refrigeration Service in New Jersey until returning to Champaign. He worked for Witte Electric of Champaign, Illinois for 27 years and retired from there in 1995. He was a member of the IBEC Electrical Union.

Clifford enjoyed playing the keyboard, playing cards, and feeding the birds and squirrels. Clifford was a devoted family member and will be missed by many.
