Christine G. Brieland 88, of Urbana died at 12:25 a.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010 at home.

A Requiem Eucharist will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Episcopal Chapel of St. John The Divine Champaign, the Rev. Fr. Timothy Hallett will officiate. A vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2010 at the church. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brieland was born on October 12, 1921 in Houtzdale, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Daniel and Kathryn McKenzie Grant. She married Donald Brieland on August 6, 1945 in Minnesota.

Survivors include two daughters; Elizabeth "Lisa" (Randy) Castor of Mahomet and Joan (Greg) Brieland of St. Louis, Missouri and three grandchildren; Anna Brieland -Shoultz and Kathryn Brieland-Shoultz both of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Joe Castor of Mahomet.

She was preceded in death by one brother; William Grant.

Mrs. Brieland graduated from Penn State University with her Bachelor's degree, University of Michigan with a Master's degree and from the University of Illinois with her PHD in 1983 at the age of 60.

She was an Educational Psychologist.

Mrs. Brieland was an active member of the Episcopal Chapel of St. John The Divine, Champaign, serving also on the International Hospitality committee.

She was a volunteer with the Daytop Drug Rehabilitation Center and enjoyed planting flowers and listening to music.
