URBANA, IL- Chester Houston, 91, of Urbana, passed away at 3:43 A.M., Monday, February 8, 2010, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Clark- Lindsey Village, 101 W. Windsor Road, Urbana, IL. Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Houston was born March 5, 1918 in Champaign, a son of Sheridan and Lina (Fink) Houston. He married Nadine Banister on March 5, 1948 in Champaign. She survives.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys Reifsteck, Mildred Houston and Iva Patterson and two brothers, Alfred Houston and Russell D. Houston.

Mr. Houston served in the United States Navy during World War II and he received his PhD. from the University of Illinois. He was a microbiology professor at the University of Rhode Island.
