Cheryl S. "Cher" Jones, beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many, passed from this life Aug. 1, 2009, after a year-long battle with metastatic breast cancer.

She died surrounded by her loving family with the support of Carle Hospice.

Cher is survived by her children, David Peters (Karen Fisher-Peters), Shannon Davis (Bill) and Scott Peters (Faye Kallista); her grandchildren, Isabelle, Quinn, Abigail, Karsyn and Lucy; her mother, Jeanne Jones; her sisters and nieces, who were her life mates, Mary Ellen, Lily and Nancy Jones and Dianna and Kate Gordon; her brothers, Ronald (Janet), Roger, and Pete (Cindy) Jones; many other nieces and nephews and lots of friends.

Cher was a lifelong learner, earning both her bachelor's and master's degrees after her children were grown and married. She was both a registered nurse and a licensed clinical professional counselor. Mostly, she was a loving daughter, mother, sister and friend. Cher lived out her life beliefs that love and forgiveness should be your life goals.

Her love was both generous and practical and she shared what she had according to the needs of her family and friends.

She is greatly missed and her life will be celebrated at New Horizon United Methodist Church at noon on Aug. 15, 2009. Lunch at the church will follow her memorial celebration.
