Charles "Chuck" E. Wallace, 76, of Fisher, passed away at 5:14 a.m., Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. A reception will be held Thursday, April 28th from 9-10 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 200 W. Arnold, Thomasboro, Illinois. A memorial service will be held at the church immediately following the reception.
Chuck was born July 5, 1939 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to parents Everett and Madeline (Blech) Wallace. He married Joann Hanes in October of 1959. They divorced in 1989, but remained friends. He married Margaret Dodd April 3, 1995 in Urbana; she survives. He is also survived by seven children: Michael Wallace (Allyson Hadfield), of Mahomet, Cheryl Sizer (Greg), of Mahomet, Robert Grant (Rose), of Mahomet, Karen Knapp (Kurt), of Forest City, Iowa, Andrea Wallace (Kim Dahl), of Champaign, Allen Weise (Rebekka), of Bloomington, and Alex Weise (Alicia), of Bellflower. Chuck is also survived by three siblings: David Wallace (Evelyn), of Weeki Wachee, Florida, Ted Wallace (Pat), of Columbia City, Indiana, and Pamela Williams, of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive Chuck. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Patrick Wallace.
After graduating from Kendallville High School in 1957, Chuck began work at Kraft Foods, in Champaign. He worked there for more than 34 years, and retired as a Maintenance Supervisor.
Chuck was an outspoken advocate for conservation efforts. He was a member of many organizations, including Ducks Unlimited, Mill Pond Gun Club, Wildlife Rehabilitation, the Bloomington Gun Club, the National Turkey Association, and the National Rifle Association.
The family wishes to thank the Carle Hospice Foundation and the nurses for their excellent care of Chuck at the end of his life. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for expenses or Carle Hospice Foundation. Condolences may be offered online at www.renner-wikoffchapel.com.
