A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War with the 89th Tank Battalion, 25th Infantry Division. He received the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars and the United Nations Service Medal.
He led a very simple life (out of choice) who loved the Lord above everything else. Each morning he spent time reading the Bible. By his example, he showed how the simple things in life are the most precious. He loved his family and friends and the special little creatures of nature. His special companion was his dog "Marcy", a little miniature schnauzer, whom he adopted from his brother when he passed away.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carle Cancer Center, the Carle Hospice Program or the Salvation Army.
A very special thanks to Dr. Rowland, his oncologist, the hospice team. He was surrounded by caring, loving people, throughout his illness which he so appreciated. He was a very gracious patient who was appreciative of everything that was done for him. He will be greatly missed.
