Obituary

Charles "Charlie" E. Ogle, Sr., of Urbana passed away at 3:26 a.m. Sunday December 31, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the CU Christian Church at 602 W. Church St Champaign on Saturday (Jan.6, 2018) from 1-3:00 p.m.

Charlie leaves Marilyn "Jean" Ogle (Welborn) his wife of 58 years; a son, Charles Jr. "Ed" (Julie) Ogle of Mahomet, daughter Paula (Stephanie) Ogle of Antioch, IL., and a son Jeffery Ogle of Urbana. Grandchildren, Melisa (Salvador) Lopez of Centralia, IL., Kyle Ogle of Mahomet, Lindsey Ogle of Mahomet, and Meaghan Ogle of St. Joseph.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore E. Ogle and Dorothy J. Ogle-Saathoff, and a daughter, Rhonda L. Ogle.

Charlie worked for nearly 20 years assisting his mother in managing the Clifford-Jacobs Restaurant. Charlie then worked for over 30 years in the development and maintenance of the Willow Springs Condominium Complex in Urbana. Charlie worked tirelessly for his family as well as the many friends that they had. It was common place for him to leave a family event to go help someone who needed an air conditioner or furnace worked on.

The most joy that Charlie had was enjoying his four grandchildren. No matter whether if it was hot, raining or blistering cold, Charlie and Jean were always a regular at their grandkids' various events. Whether on the football or softball fields, basketball or volleyball courts, dance and drama performances, they were always there cheering on the kids. He always made sure that he told each one of his grandkids how proud he was in everything that they did.

Charlie bowled for many years in the Champaign County Bowling Association. He was a lifelong Illini, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Carle Cancer Center. The family is extremely grateful for the excellent care and compassion from the doctors, nurses and health care technicians at the Cancer Center and Carle's Oncology Floor.
