Charles Hugh Jackson, 86, died at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. The Rev. John Sims will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Mr. Jackson was born on May 8, 1924 in Newman, Illinois to parents Ira and Lurta (Tuttle) Jackson. He graduated from Newman High School and later married Lena Pflugmacher in Champaign, Illinois. She preceded him in death on July 3, 1983. He later married Fae Hill on August 9, 1984 in Urbana, Illinois; she survives.
Other survivors include stepdaughters; Nancy Edwards (Dan), of Urbana, Norma Anderson (Paul), of St. Joseph, stepsons; Albert Kiifner, of Mahomet, Allan Kiifner, of Franklin, brother; Glen Jackson (Millie), of New Jersey, sister; Edith Oyer (Merle), of Champaign, six grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Dorothy Hitzke and Agnes Proctor, daughters; Cheryl and Shirley Jackson, and step-sister; Elizabeth Brown.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II.
Mr. Jackson worked as a plumber for Ideal Plumbing for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Plumber and Pipe Fitters Local 49 and enjoyed woodworking and nature.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Champaign County Nursing Home.
