Cecil A. Redding, 85 of Chesterfield, Missouri formerly of Urbana, died Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Delmar Gardens West Nursing Home, St. Louis, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana. The Rev. Terry Harvey will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Champaign, with military rites conducted by VFW post 5520 Champaign. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Redding was born on April 16, 1923 in Mason, the son of Richard Joseph and Anne Kincaid Redding. He married E. Lucille Staples on July 14, 1956 in Mason; she died January 2, 1996.

Survivors include one daughter; Linda Eldridge of St. Louis, two brothers; Dwight Redding of Urbana and Larry Holycross, two sisters; Hazel Wakefield of Springfield and Blanche Kester of Danville, one sister-in-law; Jean Redding of Washington, one granddaughter; Tami (Jeff) Quinn of O'Fallon, Missouri and two great grandchildren; Jamie Quinn and Courtney Quinn both of O'Fallon, Missouri

He was preceded in death by two brothers; Richard Redding and John Redding.

Mr. Redding owned his own home and yard maintenance service for 25 years, he also worked for the U of I in the maintenance department and drove a bus for Laidlaw transportation.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II.

Mr. Redding was a member of Living Hope Foursquare Church in Urbana; he was a loving father and grandfather. In younger years he enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with his family.
